Samuel Thomas

Mr. Samuel Thomas has 30+ years of experience in the management of multidisciplinary projects in business and science. In the past 5 years, Sam has founded and co-founded two scientific laboratories, Westcoast Separations in California and Hydrochrom Resources Limited in Lagos, Nigeria. Although he has sold his interest in the latter, he remains on the advisory board. Additionally, his business acumen is further strengthened and offers a more holistic and world-wide perspective through his contribution to business interest outside of the pharmaceutical/biotechnology industry as well as his dedicated contribution to philanthropic measures domestically and abroad.
As a research scientist, Sam, managed separations labs and developed groundbreaking methods for analysis, fractionation and extraction of small molecules using equipment like High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) and Supercritical Fluid Chromatography (SFC). As an effective manager/team leader, Sam has a reputation for building new organizations or reenergizing and refocusing existing groups. His record shows an excellent track record delivering consistent, solid progress while staying on time and without compromising quality. Under his leadership and vision, the industry recognized that his creation of lab equipment maintenance programs better enable asset management; therefore, resulting in a globally adopted program by Amgen's Research and Development organizations.
Sam received his Master’s Degree in Analytical Chemistry, with an emphasis in chemical separations, from Northeastern Illinois University. He also holds a Bachelor’s degree from Chicago State University.
